How to Fix Canon Pixma MP550 error Waste Ink Absorber Full 5B00, 5B01
Error

Solution
- Reset the Waste ink absorber full
The error code 5B00 or 5B01 on a Canon Pixma MP550 indicates that the waste ink absorber is full and needs to be reset. Here are the steps to fix this error:
- Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
- Press and hold the Stop/Reset button, then press and hold the Power button. Keep holding both buttons down until the printer powers on.
- Release the Stop/Reset button, then press it twice. This will enter the service mode.
- Press the button next to the red triangle, then press the Stop/Reset button four times.
- Press the button next to the green triangle, then press the Stop/Reset button four times.
- Press the button next to the yellow triangle, then press the Stop/Reset button four times.
- Press the button next to the blue triangle, then press the Stop/Reset button four times.
- Press the Stop/Reset button once, then press the Power button. The printer will turn off.
- Wait for five seconds, then turn the printer back on.
- Wait for the printer to finish initializing, then test it to see if the error has been resolved.
Note: This method is for resetting the waste ink absorber. It will not fix the issue permanently, it will only reset the counter. To fix the issue permanently you will need to replace the Waste Ink Absorber.
